Blakeney is a picturesque village located on the beautiful North Norfolk Coast of England. Situated between the popular resorts of Wells-Next-the-Sea and Cley-Next-the-Sea, Blakeney is a charming village with a rich history and a variety of attractions.

The first evidence of human activity in Blakeney dates back to the Iron Age, when the area was part of the Iceni tribe. The settlement was then known as Blaca's Isle, which is derived from the Old English word ‘blaca', meaning ‘black'. This name most likely refers to the dark soil found in the area.

Blakeney was an important port during medieval times, as it provided easy access to the sea for the nearby towns of Holt and Walsingham. The village was home to many merchants, who traded with ports in Holland, Germany and Spain. During this period, many buildings were built in the village, including the renowned Blakeney Guildhall, which dates back to the 16th century.

The village's main attraction is the Blakeney Point National Nature Reserve, which covers an area of over 560 hectares. The reserve is home to numerous species of birds and plants, including the grey and common seals, which are often seen basking on the sandbanks. Visitors can take boat trips to the reserve, which offer an up-close look at the wildlife.

The village is also home to a number of historic buildings, such as St Mary's Church, which dates back to the 15th century. The building is a Grade I listed structure, and is considered to be one of the most important churches in Norfolk. The village also boasts a range of traditional pubs and restaurants, as well as a selection of shops and galleries.
